Lavender essential oil has many properties. It's probably most well-known for its soothing, calming effect. What you may not realize is that lavender can also be used for anti-itch, burns, cuts and scrapes (as a disinfectant), anxiety/stress relief, bug bites/stings, sleep issues, antihistamine, nose bleeds,
anti-fungal (athlete's foot), AND it's good for sensitive skin.
Lavender can be used aromatically, topically, and internally (therapeutic/pharmaceutical grade) to help with what ails you. It's also a very popular essential oil in homemade lotions, salves, and other homemade HBAs (health and beauty aids).
My personal favorite blend that includes lavender is L.L.P., which includes equal parts lavender, lemon, and peppermint. I put 9 drops of the blend (or 3 of each essential oil) into a shot of water and drink it down whenever I'm congested due to allergies...doing so knocks the congestion out almost immediately. I also keep some in a roller bottle to use for the kids. This blend was the very first one that I mixed myself and is also what got me hooked on essential oils for medicinal purposes. You can either buy the oils separately and mix it up yourself, or you can buy it from Spark Naturals already blended.
These are some other blends/recipes using lavender:
Simple First Step to Conquer Depression:
Blend Lavender & Rosemary together in your hand, inhale, rub on the back of your neck and apply to the bottom of your feet a few times each day.

Anti-Aging Blend:
Equal parts:
Lavender, Frankincense, and Cypress
I have this in a small roller bottle and use it around my eyes...not too close, just on the bones around my eyes. Per Camp Wander's post... "long term use of DIY Immortelle blend around the eyes...has helped some improve their eyesight and soften fine lines if used regularly."
Healing Blend:
10 drops Lavender
10 drops Frankincense
10 drops Melaleuca
Alcohol-free witch hazel (I use Thayer's)
Add the essential oils to a 10ml roller bottle, then top with witch hazel. This works great on minor scrapes, scratches, and cuts.
